Gray Ghost
This supurb baitfish imitation has been catching big trout since July 1924 when it was first cast to Maine brook trout.

The Gray Ghost was created by Mrs. Carrie Stevens on July 1st 1924 to imitate the smelt that were present in the famous Upper Dam Pool. On that very day she landed a 6 pound, 13 ounce brookie on her new creation that ended up taking second place in the Field and Stream Fishing Contest that year. It was this pattern that started Mrs. Stevens career as a professional tier. She called the Gray Ghost one of her fancy patterns and believe it or not she tied them all without the use of a tying vice….remarkable. This pattern can be considered a universal baitfish imitation that we have used quite successfully for rainbows in Alaska as well as brookies in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and the Northeast US.
