Although this pattern is tied on a 1/0 hook it fishes much larger than it looks

This clever Squid pattern was designed by the noted Capt. Ray Stachelek of East Greenwich RI, a forty year veteran captain and fly tier. He undoubtedly designed this pattern to fish the famous squid runs of the Northeast where the fishing can get hot and heavy. This is a big hairy fly that really imitates the profile of a squid quite well. We like the large eyes that are mounted just aft of the hook bend that really give predators a target to hone in on. As with many squid patterns we find them useful while fishing the tuna species of the Pacific west coast all the way down to Baja.
