Joe's Hopper: Created Art Winnie of Traverse City Michigan but made popular by the late Joe Brooks and also know as the Michigan Hopper it is quite likely the first true Grasshopper pattern ever tied. This pattern has folded lateral wings that give it a real distinctive natural look and a fine silhouette for trout to see. An interesting technique to hopper fishing is it land the fly on the water with a splash as a natural would do creating a commotion. Be careful with your tippet as it can spook fish if slapped on the water also.
