The Pink Cahill is one of those patterns who's local name refers to multiple species in the East and Midwest. The first is Stenacron interpunctatum, the Light Cahill where emergence is quite sparse but lasts from Mid-May through late August, peaking in late June and early July. The best hatching in the East is in late June an early July, and in the Midwest this species peaks about a month later.

The second most common reference to the Pink Cahill is for Epeorus vitreus common name Sulphur also a species found in the East and Midwest. This species produces sporadic hatches more often than not with an occasional hatch capable of concentrated emergence enough to causes selective feeding.
