The Caddis Candy, a pattern designed by David Phares, a Judge in Gilbert AZ, is a good generic imitation of a caddis larva that can also imitate a scud and just maybe an annelid (also called "ringed worms") a large phylum of segmented worms, with over 17,000 species. Regardless of what it imitates, trout everywhere seem to just love it. Judge Phares himself describes this pattern as being to Trout as truffles are to pigs. Laced with iridescent colors these flies seem to light up in the water as the sunlight hits the profile of their thin body. We think these flies are best fished in fast pocket water and riffles, the favorite haunt of the free swimming Caddisfly genus Rhyacophila larvae as well as many others.
