This Selection is of the delicate aquatic insect known as the Pale Morning Dun. Scientifically we have the famous Mayfly Family Ephemerellidae; Genus Ephemerella, Species: E. infrequens, E. inermis, E. lacustris and E. mollita. On many Western Rivers and Streams from California to Alaska the PMD is the premier hatch of the season. A very prolific aquatic insect, PMD hatches can run from late spring all the way to early October (encompassing different species) making them important to target on through the entire season. As the name implies this is usually a morning hatch that lasts around two hours although cooler temperatures can delay the hatch to the warmer part of the day. Individual stream temperatures play an important role in determining the timing of the early spring hatches with sporadic hatch activity beginning at 50 degrees and peaking at a range of 55-60 degrees. Low land waters will produce hatch activity much earlier than higher elevation streams chilled by early spring runoff. In this Selection you will find three each PMD Dry flies size 14 & 16, Parachute Duns size 14 & 16, Sparkle Dun size 16, Emerger size 16, Spinner size 16 and Nymph size 16.
