Fly Family Selection - Hairwing Wulff Dry Flies
Lee Wulff created this wonderful Hairwing Design in the 1930's that has since reached Global Status
|
This is a Selection of the many color variations of the Wulff Pattern sometimes know as the Hairwing Wulff. This wonderful high floating fly was created by Lee Wulff in the 1930's based on his belief that trout wanted something meatier to eat than the sparse hackle dressings of the day. This is not just a patter but rather a subcategory of flies that define the Hairwing Dry Fly as it should be. The original Wulff pattern as tied by Lee had an upright profile to the wings and used bucktail in both the tail and wings. This pattern has reached global acclaim as it fishes well anywhere in the world where trout waters flow. This pattern is very buoyant and is especially suited for medium to fast water flow scenario or for late at night when you just want to see something big and white on the water. The Wulff pattern is a general attractor and as such does not imitate a specific aquatic insect. It is one of those go-to fly patterns that you can fish with confidence when and where ever you go. In this Selection you will find three each Royal Wulff sizes 12 & 14, White Wulff sizes 12 & 14, Adams ParaWulff sizes 12 & 14 and Ausable Cream ParaWulff sizes 12 & 14.
