This Selection is of the Light Cahill pattern originated by Daniel Cahill of New York State way back in the 1880's to fish the Stenonema hatches on Eastern Rivers. This pattern imitates mayflies of the Family Heptageniidae, Genus; Stenacron (Light Cahill) and Cinygma (Western Light Cahill) species of these two Genera bear a strong resemblance to their famous Family member the Pale Evening Duns, Genus Heptagenia. Light Cahill’s are summer hatchers with Eastern hatches peaking between mid-June to mid-July where as Midwestern hatches only begin to take place from late-July to early-August. The Western Light Cahill on the other hand has a much broader hatch cycle that runs from April to September. These hatches occur from late afternoon to early evening usually in quiet stretches of slow flowing water. This selection contains three each Cahill Duns in sizes 14,16 and 18, Parachute Duns in sizes 14 & 16, Emergers in sizes 14 & 16 and Nymphs in size 16. The Cahill natural emerges into a beautiful delicate little dun that is just a joy to observe and a pleasure to fish. A true classic.
