Clouser Crayfish: This is a cleverly designed Crayfish pattern that is not the most exacting replica of the natural but is somewhat along the lines of the Dave Whitlock "Near-Nuff" series of flies in that the look makes the transition work. The key to this patterns success is that it looks great when fished in a series of short quick stripes to imitate the movement of a fleeing crayfish. This is also an outstanding Carp pattern when fished really slow. Hey, if it has Clouser's name on it and it is for Smalmouth - use it!
