Sulfur Dun Dry Fly
This is the perfect little Mayfly that gives us much hatch activity in the East and Midwest
|
Eastern Sulphur Duns belong to the Family: Ephemerellidae and the infamous Genus: Ephemerella. Specifically the Eastern Sulphur Duns are identified by species as; E.rotunda and E. invaria. The two species are very similar in many ways and with overlapping hatch timing are often mistaken as a single species. It should also be noted that E. rotunda is known as the Light Hendrickson and is often confused as a continuation of the earlier hatching Dark Hendrickson Dun classified as E. subvaria. Eastern Sulpher Duns emerge between mid-May and late June with a water temperature trigger in a range of 52 to 58 degrees. It is E. rotunda that hatches first with E. invaria emerging a few weeks later during a slightly higher water temperature range. We are currently updating our inventory and not accepting new orders.
