Sprout
Tied on a curved shank hook this parachute emerger rides half in and half out of the surface flim.

The Sprout is a very effective emerger pattern for several reasons. First is the parachute design that has the palmered hackle collar riding high in the water with the rest of the fly submerged in the surface film. This is a very natural looking and common situation that mayfly emergers find themselves in. Trout recognize the look quickly as a natural and eat it. Second is the curved shank which positions the hook point almost perfectly for a good solid hook up with the help of the parachute collar . This pattern comes in a variety of hatches. Don't leave home without a few of these in your box. We are currently updating our inventory and not accepting new orders. Please check back at a later date. |
