Big Game Fly Patterns

Big game flies are designed to fish for some of the biggest fish a fly rod can handle. With fly rod manufacturers now building fly rods in the 14-17 weight class fly patterns are now bigger and better than ever.

Tandem hooks are often found in many patterns with the trailing hook riding point up. Single hook pattern recipes are often found requesting the new generation of stout short shank,  black nickel saltwater hooks like the Owner- AKI or Tiemco- 600SP.

In this category we also have an abundance of tube flies that seem to be the pattern of choice for Billfish. Tying tube flies does require a special attachment for your vice and most vice manufacturers offer them as accessories.
